Edgecombe-Martin County EMC

Edgecombe-Martin County EMC is a not-for-profit electric cooperative that serves approximately 11,680 meters throughout Edgecombe, Martin, Pitt, Beaufort, Nash, Halifax, Bertie, and Wilson Counties.  Our mission is to make electric energy available to our members at the lowest cost consistent with sound economy and good management. We also strive to be your source for energy conservation information by providing tips and "how-to" demonstrations on how to make your home more energy efficient.

Edgecombe-Martin County EMC is the oldest electric cooperative in the state of North Carolina and one of the oldest in the nation.  The cooperative threw their first switch on April 17, 1937 to energize the homes of 82 co-op members.  Today we continue our efforts to supply our members with the most reliable electric power, while providing them with customer service that sets the bar for all others in the service industry.

We believe in building relationships through community involvement and we work closely with our members to ensure their needs are met.  As a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, we aim to be the best we can be by continually providing you with innovative technologies to keep your cooperative on the cutting-edge of the industry. As a member of your not-for-profit electric cooperative you can trust that we always operate with your best interest in mind, because we were created not to make profits, but simply to deliver reliable electricity to your home at a better value. The cooperative business model ensures every member a voice in business decisions, and through your critical input we are able to continually improve our level of service.
