Electric Vehicle Rates
Energy efficiency on the move.

As electric vehicle technology improves, and the cost of electric vehicles decreases, more Americans will continue to make the switch to electric. As a result, Edgecombe-Martin County EMC will offer price breaks to those who drive electric vehicles and are willing to help us by avoiding power usage during peak periods. Edgecombe-Martin County EMC offers rates to members who own a plug-in electric vehicle (EV)*. This rate schedule has been designed specifically for EV owners who use most of their energy overnight charging their vehicle. If you’re an EV owner and would like to lower your energy bill, simply switch to the EV rate, plug-in your vehicle before bed and save money while you sleep!
How do I apply for the EV Rate?
It’s easy! Simply provide these three things to Edgecombe-Martin County EMC:
- Copy of the electric vehicle registration card corresponding to the associated electric address.
- Proof that the vehicle can be recharged from an external plug-in source of electricity.
- Notice if ownership or lease of the vehicle changes.
What is different about this rate?
The Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak rates make the difference with the EV rate schedule. By using most of your energy during the Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak times, you will see significant savings on your energy bill.
